Across the country today we are experiencing what some are calling a polar vortex. As far as weather goes, the word vortex is defined as a whirling mass of cold air. A second definition is something overwhelming; a feeling or a circumstance that seems to consume everything else. I can think of several common things that can be defined as a vortex in and of themselves. Love. Fear. Jealousy. Greed. Hate. Revenge. Cruelty. Alcoholism. Sex. The characters in my new novel “A False Start” are whirling in all of the aforementioned vortexes. Brrrr!
