First of all, flying to Hawaii from the South is a long journey. Add to that the turbulence which leads the captain to keep the seatbelt light on so that movement is discouraged. To that add thoughts of the missing Malaysian flight and how it disappeared over the ocean. Add to that an intense negative feeling bordering on trepidation where flying is concerned. Add to that close family ties that would stress the mother if she was not with family on this special day. I would conclude that spending the day in Hawaii would be a false start. For me.

But not today! Today I saw a double rainbow over Waikiki from the sun deck of our rental property  – with my family. The only absent member is our little dog- but, he’s being cared for.

Spending Mother’s Day in Hawaii is a great start! Happy Mother’s Day!
