I am freshly arrived from Honolulu, Hawaii and have I learned a lot! First of all “Aloha” means more than hello. It carries a deeper meaning of peace, God’s presence being with you, love, joy, and all things good. The people of Hawaii use the word along with “Mahalo” most of the time. Read the following links:
So when you use the word to merely say hello, it is indeed a false start. Aloha means so much more!
